Residential Leasing Agent License Exemption

Under Illinois law, the following individuals are exempt from requiring a Residential Leasing Agent license:

  • Those employed directly by the property owner.
  • Those employed by an entity owned by the property owner.
  • Leasing agents living at the property they are leasing and are acting as the residential manager.

Licensed Attorney Broker Exemption

Attorneys licensed in Illinois and admitted to practice law by the Illinois Supreme court are exempt from completing the Pre-License requirement. Candidates are required to pass a state examination before applying for the license. 

All qualifying attorneys must complete an Illinois Real Estate Examination Request form and provide a photocopy of their ARDC card. This form can be found in the PSI Candidate handbook and must be mailed to PSI at the provided address located on the form.

Licensed Attorney Managing Broker Exemption

Attorneys licensed in Illinois and admitted to practice law by the Illinois Supreme court are exempt from completing the Pre-License requirement. Candidates are required to pass a state examination before applying for the license. However, it is necessary to have an active real estate Broker license for 2 of the past 3 years to qualify for the Managing broker's license.
