IL Real Estate Pre-License – Late Arrival/Early Departure Attendance Policies

We recognize that our students sometimes experience unforeseen schedule conflicts after enrolling in a class. Our policies vary for different types of programs.

This article contains the following sections:

Some programs are generally completed in single or multiple days of class attendance. Students are expected to attend and participate in each class session. Late arrivals are not permitted, so we recommend that students plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled classes.  Students who do not arrive for class on time will be required to complete the entire session on a future date when it is available. Students who must leave early will be required to complete the whole session on a future date when it is available.

Below includes some scenarios of a student missing or being late for class depending on program type.

Residential Leasing Agent

Q: What if a student is late for the 1st day of class?

A: If a student is more than 15 minutes late, they must reschedule to another start date as attendance is mandatory. We offer a free one-time reschedule at no charge. If the student reschedules another time less than four business days before the scheduled class, they are subject to a $50 rescheduling fee.

Q: What if a student attended the 1st day of class and is late for the 2nd day?

A: If a student attended day one and was late or missed day two, they must reschedule day two only.  They must reschedule day 2 within a reasonable amount of time (no more than a month after their original day two date). Otherwise, they must attend both days again.

Q: What if a student did not show up to class?

A: If a student calls back after not showing up on their first day of class, they must reschedule. We offer a free one-time reschedule at no charge. If the student reschedules again less than four business days before the scheduled class, they are subject to a $50 rescheduling fee.

Broker Pre-License (Flex Path)

Q: What if a student is late for an applied session?

A: If the student is more than 15 minutes late, they cannot earn credit for the session. The Flex Path program's schedule is flexible, so they will need to pick another date/time when that missed session will occur.

Broker Pre-License (Live Track)

Q: What if a student is late for the 1st day of class?

A: Any “Topics” day is not mandatory from the IDFPR, so a student can miss more than 15 minutes for these "Topics" days. It is recommended to attend class still as soon as they can arrive as Real Estate Institute requires students to be in attendance for the first day of class.

Q: What if a student cannot attend the 1st day of class?

A: The attendance for the 1st day is mandatory, so if the student misses the entire day, they must reschedule to another start date. We offer a free one-time reschedule at no charge. If the student reschedules again less than four business days before the scheduled class, they are subject to a $50 rescheduling fee.

Q: What if a student is late on an “Applied” day for the Directed-Track program?

A: If the student is more than 15 minutes late, they cannot earn credit for the missed session. It is up to the student if they wish to stay in class to get the instruction from their instructor, but they will not earn credit and must make up the entire session.

The student will go to their Student Portal and select the “Broker Pre-License Applied Real Estate Principles” course. The last section of Miscellaneous will have a link to the make-up sessions by clicking “scheduled”:

Q: What if a student is late on an “Applied” day for the Fast-Track program?

A: If the student is more than 15 minutes late, they cannot earn credit for the missed session. For the Fast-Track program, each “Applied” day will consist of 3 applied sessions within a day. Day 5 will consist of applied sessions 1, 2, and 3, and Day 6 will include applied sessions 4, 5, and 6. Depending on the student's missed time, they can still stay in a class or return to earn credit for their remaining sessions.
