The goal of the required Pre-License education is to provide prospective licensees with the knowledge to prepare for the Illinois Real Estate examination.

Residential Leasing Agent Education Requirements
A prospective licensee must complete a 15-hour Residential Leasing Agent course to obtain a Residential Leasing Agent license.
Broker Education Requirements
A prospective licensee must complete a 75-hour Broker Pre-License course to obtain a Broker license. The curriculum consists of two main parts: 60-hours of Real Estate Topics and 15-hours of Applied Real Estate Principles.
The 60-hour Topics portion may be provided in any format. The 15-hour Applied portion must be provided in the classroom, in a live interactive webinar, or in an online distance education format.
Managing Broker Education Requirements
To obtain a Managing Brokers license, a prospect licensee must have an active Brokers license for two consecutive of the previous three years and must complete a 45-hour Managing Broker Pre-License course. The curriculum consists of two main parts: 30-hours of Real Estate Topics and 15-hours of Applied Management and Supervision.
The 30-hour Topics portion may be provided in any format. The 15-hour Applied portion must be provided in the classroom, in a live interactive webinar, or in an online distance education format.
